Hebron’s mayor said the number of Palestinians forced to leave their homes in the city had risen to 3,043 as the Israeli military offensive and siege continued for a fourth consecutive day on Monday. More than 450 families have been forcibly displaced from their homes. Israeli forces also abducted two Palestinians on Monday in the Hebron governorate, in the southern occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) has reported that Israeli forces invaded several neighborhoods in Hebron city, broke into and searched homes, and ransacked their contents before abducting Abdullah Monther al-Zaru from the al-Kassara area in the southern part of the city.
Local activist Mohammad Awad said Israeli forces also invaded Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, broke into the home of Mohammad al-Za’aqiq, and abducted his daughter, Marah, 27, after searching the home and beating her two brothers.
In Beit Awwa and Deir Samet, west of Hebron, Israeli forces broke into and searched two homes, destroyed their contents, and stole money, WAFA said. No abductions were reported in either town.
WAFA’s earlier report put the number of displaced Palestinians at approximately 2,649, particularly in the Deir Bahha and al-Jilda areas of Hebron city.
It also reported that Israeli forces had abducted dozens of Palestinians, subjected hundreds to abuse, and destroyed property and household contents in approximately 500 homes they had broken into and searched.
Hebron Municipality said Israeli forces continued to close the city’s entrances, further worsening living conditions for residents as the military siege continued.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society said the number of Palestinians abducted since the start of the Israeli military operation in Hebron had risen to 71.
